A Dodge Viper sadly did not survive the Fourth of July weekend. The driver overstepped the car’s limits and slammed into the side of an RV. He then ran away, leaving his injured passenger trapped inside the mangled car.

The extent of her injuries is currently unknown and the driver has yet to be found.

The wreck happened Sunday night in Mishawaka, Indiana where RVs are common and Vipers are not. While it’s not certain the driver was under the influence, it wouldn’t be surprising given the circumstances. Either way, this serves as another reminder to watch out for impaired/crappy drivers.

What kind of sociopath would leave an injured person like that? I mean really, what is the thought process? Its not like you’re gonna get away with it, cause the person you left is without a doubt going to tell the cops everything, so what the heck gives?

When they inevitably catch this guy he needs a nice, long, refreshing prison sentence.

What an asshole. At least if you’re going to run, carry the frickin’ passenger or SOMETHING.

In many states, the penalties for leaving the scene are less severe than staying at the scene and getting a DUI.

In Indiana, leaving the scene is a misdemeanor, but if someone is seriously injured, leaving the scene can be treated as a felony.

There have been a couple of high-profile cases here of people with affluenza crashing or even killing somebody when they were (allegedly) drunk. But they leave the scene and their intoxication can’t be proven. Then they get lawyered up and basically get off the hook.

Maybe the driver and Jared can talk about foot longs in jail.
